still reading

all the fire alarm jobs have gone cold probably due to the fact that it is january and nobody has any money. So I'll just have to keep reading until spring arrives.

I got cold feet

I must admit I went round to somewhere where I could have looked at her fire alarm, but I was a bit late so I will have to do it another day.

going to have a look at a faulty alarm tomorrow

more of a tweet than a post, but I am going to have a look at my first fault alarm tomorrow.

It's a cheapo, just the alarms but with no panel, but it is still giving the customer problems.

I'll let you know more tomorrow.

bit of a let down with the book

Today Amazon managed to deliver the Design Installation and Maintenance of Fire alarm systems that I thought was going to tell me everything I wanted to know about Fire Alarms that my Mother wouldn't tell me. Unfortunately I was wrong. It just goes into the BS 5839 ad nauseam which I am sure is very useful for established fire alarm engineers of which I am not, but just learning, so it looks as though I will have to put my hand into my pocket yet again and fork out for another book. Oh well,

Gentle ideas as to how to progress

I guess I'll be asked for all types of fire alarm and how to fix them. One of my customers has a cheapo system with three interconnected alarms, and I guess if I want to find out which alarm is causing the problem, I could disconnect the signal cable that connects them all, and see which one is causing the problem.

I also think I take a heater round to test the heater alarms, and a smoke producer to test the smoke alarms.
